Sunday April 18th 8 AM - 12.30 PM
Greater Atlanta Vedic
Temple has had the noble tradition of organizing Vedic Mahayajnya
each year in celebration of one of the four Vedas (pillars of Hindu ethos).
This year's Mahayajnya- YAJURVED MAHAYAJNYA- is to be
held on April 18, 2010 from 8 am to 12.30 pm. This is being done with the aim
of propagating world peace and prosperity. With natural calamities and
devastation in Haiti, Chile, Hawaii etc and humanly created terrorist attacks,
it seems the world is on its perilous edge. While we react by mobilizing aid
and support, we feel there is a stronger way to avert such disasters by praying
fervently with combined good intent. It works wonders as the effective words
echo in the outer space and have proved from time immemorial to impact even to
diminish the strength of nature besides of course taming the hatred by which
man inflicts destruction. So it is timely that such mass prayers are undertaken
and supported by everyone.
With this basic purpose,
Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple beckons you to sponsor or simply attend this
year’s collective prayers – Annual Mahayajnya (unique collective
Vedic prayers to propagate tranquility in the universe). This will
give all sponsors and attendees an opportunity to appreciate how the
simple process of Yajnya ushers positivity
of thought and action thus imbibing divine energy within each one. This energy
is self-propelling towards a calmer mind and body even impacting the
surroundings where we dwell. With collective recital of selected Vedic hymns,
this mega-prayer is conducted in the same manner as in ancient times
and certainly generates individual and amalgamated will-prowess. The
herbal ingredients offered into the sacred fire have the capacity and power to
emancipate the conscience leading to noble thoughts and deeds aimed at
fostering an attitude of collaborative and accommodative living.
